Jocelyn is an Integrative and Trauma-Informed Counsellor, Woman, Mother of three and local to the Northern Rivers for ten years.

Jocelyn possesses a vibrancy and warmth that immediately communicates a strong message of safety. She is passionate about facilitating a space where individuals can freely express themselves, face their past, and move towards a meaningful future.

Jocelyn has lived experience with trauma and has spent the past two years on the front line supporting young people and their families in the Child Protection sector. She has a background in Psychology and post graduate studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is currently studying Somatic and Shamanic modalities.

Jocelyn has a trauma-informed, mind-body perspective. Her approach integrates aspects of Neuroscience, Mindfulness, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, Somatic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Jocelyn’s aim is to support you to grow beyond the limits imposed by your history. Her sessions will address your past and the current impacts on your mind, body and spirit – for example limiting beliefs, a dysregulated nervous system, and a lost sense of self.

Jocelyn sees the past as alive in the present and believes in facing our pain in a safe and contained way in order to come ‘home’ to our authentic and powerful selves. Jocelyn describes this part of her work as “heart led”and “innately somatic.” Jocelyn believes that escaping from the grips of the monkey mind to the wisdom and spaciousness of the heart can be an arduous journey and she is deeply passionate about supporting individuals who are ready and willing to walk this path.

Jocelyn is not interested in pathologising or intellectualising, but rather in nurturing a relationship where you feel safe to feel what you did not at the time of the traumatic event.

“Trauma isn’t the thing that we experience; it’s the pain we hold inside in the absence of an empathic witness.” (Peter Levine).
